Simple Signature · Troubleshooting

Site Configuration not done. Please ask Admin to Authorize.

You see this error text in Salesforce.

Last updated 21 Oct 2026

The short version

Signers see this message when Simple Signature's connection to your org has stopped. TAF support has seen four causes: a Simple Signature version with no refresh job, a refresh job that was never scheduled, an authorizing user without the right permission set, or a Salesforce outage. The four checks below show which one you have, and each check has its fix.

What you see

A signer opens a signature link, cannot sign, and gets this message:

Site Configuration not done. Please ask Admin to Authorize.

The site may have worked fine for days or weeks first.

Why it happens

The signature site works through an authorization that an admin gives with the Authorize button. That authorization does not last on its own. A scheduled job, Refresh Token Job Simple Signature, renews it every hour. When the job is missing, or when Salesforce has an outage, the authorization stops and signers get the message.

Before you start

You need an admin user with the Simple Signature (Admin) permission set, and access to Salesforce Classic. The authorize step works in Classic only.

Check 1: Is your version older than 5.7?

This check is about the app version. The refresh job came in version 5.7.56. Versions older than 5.7.56 have no refresh job.

Open Setup. In the Quick Find box, type Installed Packages. Click Installed Packages. Find Simple Signature and read its version number.

Check 2: Is the refresh job scheduled?

This check is about your setup.

Open Setup. In the Quick Find box, type Scheduled Jobs. Click Scheduled Jobs. Look for a job named Refresh Token Job Simple Signature.

  • The job is not in the list: do the fix below.
  • The job is in the list: go to Check 3.

This step is easy to miss. The Schedule Refresh Job Interval (Hours) box is set to 1 by default, so it looks done. But Salesforce makes the job only when you click Schedule Refresh Job.

Fix: authorize again, then schedule the job

  1. Click Switch to Salesforce Classic.
  2. Open Setup. Click Installed Packages. Find Simple Signature. Click Configure. The Simple Signature Configuration page opens. Click the Site Configuration tab. If the Client ID and Client Secret boxes are empty, set up the connection first: follow Connect the site to Simple Signature.
  3. Click Authorize. Log in as an admin user who has the Simple Signature (Admin) permission set and access to the Simple Signature objects. Accept the permissions. The authorization date and user now show above the Authorize button. If you get "login.salesforce.com refused to connect" or an invalid client ID error, you are still in Lightning. Switch to Classic and click Authorize again.
  4. On the same tab, in Schedule Refresh Job Interval (Hours), make sure the value is 1. Click Schedule Refresh Job.
  5. Open Scheduled Jobs again. Refresh Token Job Simple Signature now shows in the list.

Check 3: Does the user who authorized have the Admin permission set?

This check is about your setup. The user who clicks Authorize needs the Simple Signature (Admin) permission set. Without it, the connection fails even when everything else is right.

In Classic, open the Site Configuration tab as in steps 1 and 2 above. Note the user shown above the Authorize button. Open Setup. In the Quick Find box, type Users. Click Users, then click that user. Under Permission Set Assignments, look for Simple Signature (Admin).

  • The permission set is missing: click Edit Assignments, add Simple Signature (Admin), and click Save. Then click Authorize again, as in step 3 above.
  • The permission set is there: go to Check 4.

Check 4: Did Salesforce have an outage?

This check is about Salesforce. A Salesforce outage can stop the authorization even while the job runs. TAF support saw this in several orgs in September 2026.

If the job is in the list and the user has the permission set, click Authorize again in Classic, as in steps 1 to 3 above. You do not need to delete the job or schedule it again.

How to check it worked

  1. On the Site Configuration tab, the authorization date and user show above the Authorize button.
  2. Scheduled Jobs lists Refresh Token Job Simple Signature.
  3. Ask a signer to open their signature link again. The message no longer shows.

If it still does not work

Open a case. To save time, include your org ID and your Simple Signature version number, and give TAF support access to your org.

Applies to

Simple Signature (all versions). This fix comes from a solved support case.
